If you can change your perception of your career, you will benefit immediately if you want to change jobs at a specific time. Even if you are currently working under the least desirable conditions, developing a long-term vision will help you take control of your career. Step 1: Define your current career.

For example, if the short-term goal is to develop new skills as a way to make progress in a particular occupation, then the milestone can be a 90-day assessment to determine if these skills are being acquired. If you don’t have these skills, you can decide on the following steps, including asking for different tasks at work, finding other jobs in the same organization, or finding new jobs at work that have already reached a point that it provides. When I ask my clients to describe the skills and knowledge they have now, I often get an answer that looks a lot like the job description of their current job.
